ON THE SIDELINES : Boxer Taken Off Critical List
Heavyweight boxer Charles Dread improved from critical to stable condition today after being taken to the hospital following a knockout the night before.
Dread, 29, of Laurel, Md., was knocked out by Halken Brock at 1:58 of the first round during Thursday night’s scheduled four-round fight at Trump Plaza.
Dread remained on the canvas for several minutes before being taken to the Atlantic City Medical Center’s intensive care unit. The condition was diagnosed as a subdural hematoma.
He was in stable condition today, hospital spokeswoman Sherry Spatz said.
