SADDLEBACK/SOUTH BEACH : LAGUNA NIGUEL : Forum to Give Data on Cityhood’s Effect

Share

Information about how cityhood would affect this community will be given Sunday night at a forum held in the gymnasium at the Crown Valley Regional Park on Crown Valley Parkway. The forum will start at 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. The sponsor is Citizens for Cityhood, an organization that supports incorporation.

Residents of Laguna Niguel will vote on cityhood in the Nov. 7 election. They will also vote for candidates for a five-member City Council that would assume office if cityhood receives a majority vote.

“This session on Sunday will have information from the new feasibility study,” said Denny Harris, a member of the executive committee of Citizens for Cityhood. He was referring to a newly released professional study of how Laguna Niguel would fare financially if it became Orange County’s 29th city. The study’s overall conclusion is that the community would operate very comfortably in the black, with a hefty surplus.

Harris said all 23 candidates for the Laguna Niguel City Council have been invited to the Sunday forum.

He added that the candidates would answer questions and explain their positions on various issues.
