Star fullback Johnny Johnson was dismissed from the San Jose State football team after three unannounced absences last week, Coach Claude Gilbert said.

Johnson became the first player in National Collegiate Athletic Assn. history to rush for more than 1,200 yards and catch at least 60 passes in the same season when he recorded 1,219 yards rushing and 61 receptions in last season.
