THE SIDELINES : Jeff Harding Retains WBC Title

BRISBANE, Australia —
Australian Jeff Harding retained his World Boxing Council light heavyweight title today when English challenger Tom Collins quit at the end of the second round.
Harding knocked Collins down in the first round of the scheduled 12 rounder and hammered him against the ropes late in the second after surviving a hard right to the jaw.
Harding improved his record to 16-0, including 13 knockouts, and Collins dropped to 24-16-1.
