Smithsonian Traveling Seminar to Visit Fullerton, Santa Ana During 4-Day Stay

The Smithsonian Institution’s Lecture and Seminar Program will bring a film, a concert and a four-day series of lectures and workshops to several locations in Santa Ana and Fullerton beginning Nov. 2.

The Washington-based institution’s program will cover a wide range of topics, including the changing image of the American artist, women’s impact on national politics, early American photography, techniques in nature photography and preserving old family photographs.

The film, “Beyond the Ocean, Beneath a Leaf,” a photo-journey from the Amazon rain forests to the Antarctic ice shelf, will be shown Nov. 3. Tickets are $4. The Nov. 4 concert, “Salute to American Popular Song and Jazz,” features pianist John Eaton in songs by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington and others. Tickets are $5.
