Turner Broadcasting System Inc. is branching out and has formed a unit to make and distribute movies to theaters. Turner Pictures will go into operation immediately and already has two projects lined up, “The Secret Life of Ian Fleming,” a drama about the former British spy who wrote the James Bond novels, and “Treasure Island,” starring Charlton Heston. A company executive called the move a natural extension of TBS’ production of first-run movies for cable television.
