Norwalk : College to Provide Employee Drug Counseling
- Share via
The Cerritos College Board of Trustees has unanimously approved the hiring of a professional company to provide help for any of the school’s 600 employees who might be having personal problems, including alcohol and drug-related difficulties.
The seven-member board approved a $12,000 contract with HelpNet of Long Beach, which provides counseling and referral information. The contract becomes effective Jan. 1.
HelpNet will train administrators on how to detect and help employees who may have drug dependencies. Counseling will be provided, and employees needing additional help will be referred to other professional organizations. The district’s group insurance is expected to cover the cost of treatment.
The identities of employees will be kept confidential.
