PREP ROUNDUP : Corbin Lifts Laguna Hills in Water Polo

Brandon Corbin scored with 15 seconds remaining to give Laguna Hills High School a 10-9 victory over Orange in a Pacific Coast League water polo match Wednesday at Orange.

Corbin had two goals in the match. Sophomore Chad Carvin had four goals, leading all scorers. Junior J.J. Carvin, Chad’s older brother, had two goals.

Laguna Hills improved to 7-8 overall, 2-2 in the league.

In other Pacific Coast League water polo:

Costa Mesa 24, Laguna Beach 11--Corey Delahunt had nine goals and Bret Dieball had eight to lead host Costa Mesa (9-14, 3-1).

In Empire League water polo:

Esperanza 17, Katella 6--Host Esperanza improved to 20-6, breaking the school record of 19 victories set in 1981. Josh Hetland had six goals, Mark Campagna had five and Brian Pickler three.

El Dorado 19, Los Alamitos 6--Kyle Utsumi, Matt Svoboda and Matt Maclear each had four goals to lead host El Dorado (16-3, 4-0).

Cypress 14, Loara 1--Shane Lothrob and Mike Frias scored three goals each, and John Lin and Danny Nielsen each had two for host Cypress.

In Orange League water polo:

Brea-Olinda 23, Anaheim 2--Kyle Kilpatrick had six goals to lead visiting Brea-Olinda (15-7, 6-1).

In Sea View League water polo:

Tustin 14, Estancia 5--Sophomore Pat Collins scored four goals to lead host Tustin (10-10, 2-2).

In Sunset League water polo:

Marina 15, Fountain Valley 5--Bob Haefner scored four goals and Chad Roberts added two for Marina at Golden West College. Brandon Querciagrossa scored all five goals for Fountain Valley.
