Former NFL player Warren McVea, troubled by drug and legal problems, received a five-year prison term for arson but could be immediately eligible for parole, police said.
McVea, 43, also was ordered to pay $36,920 in restitution. He has been in the Harris County Jail on $10,000 bond since February on charges of setting fire to a female acquaintance’s Houston apartment.
McVea had pleaded no contest.
