COLLEGE ROUNDUP : George’s Goal Gives Titans 1-0 Victory Over UCI

Steve George scored a second-half goal to give Cal State Fullerton a 1-0 victory over UC Irvine in a Big West Conference men’s soccer match Sunday at Irvine.

George’s goal came on a penalty shot with a little less than three minutes left. Fullerton improves to 11-6-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the conference. Irvine is 3-13-1, 1-8.

In the Cal State Long Beach water polo tournament:

UC Irvine 14, UCLA 10--Tom Warde and John Redd had four goals each to lead Irvine in the third-place match at Long Beach Belmont Plaza.

California defeated Stanford, 7-6, for the championship.

Dan Smoot added three goals for Irvine (20-4), which is ranked second in the nation.
