Brad Pearce, Top-Seed Gunnarsson Advance in Bergen Open Tournament

BERGEN, Norway — American qualifier Brad Pearce of Provo, Utah, and top-seeded Jan Gunnarsson of Sweden scored semifinal victories today in the Bergen Open tennis championships.
Pearce defeated Niklas Kulti of Sweden, the world’s top-ranked junior player, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). The 23-year-old American trailed 4-1 in the third set.
Gunnarsson, who is seeking his first Bergen Open title in five straight attempts, eliminated Kelly Jones of San Diego 6-4, 6-4.
The title match will be played Saturday.
