A 34-year-old man died Saturday of massive head injuries when his motorcycle apparently skidded on a curve in San Juan Capistrano and he was thrown to the ground.

Douglas Gladstone of San Juan Capistrano died at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center shortly before 5 a.m., about 10 hours after the accident on Camino Capistrano, north of Junipero Serra Road.

There were no witnesses to the crash, but investigators suspect Gladstone lost control of his motorcycle, according to Richard MacAnally, a senior coroner’s investigator. Gladstone was not wearing a helmet.

In an unrelated accident, a 58-year-old man died Saturday after he suffered an apparent heart attack and lost control of his car, which slammed into a concrete wall along the Orange Freeway in Anaheim.

Wayne Wayde of El Toro was rushed to United Western Medical Center-Santa Ana after the 2:45 p.m. accident north of Wagner Avenue, but doctors were unable to revive him. Although an autopsy had not been performed, authorities believe Wayde died from a heart attack rather than from injuries he sustained in the crash, a coroner’s spokesman said.
