ON THE SIDELINES : Wilburn Crack Test Reported
Washington Redskins cornerback Barry Wilburn tested positive for crack use and was placed on the team’s non-football injury list, according to a published report.
The Washington Times said in today’s editions that Wilburn recently failed a third NFL drug test, this one for crack use.
Team officials would not reveal the reason for the move, saying it was for “personal reasons.”
Wilburn was slated to get his second start of the season against Dallas on Sunday. His place in the lineup was taken by rookie A. J. Johnson, who had been nursing an ankle injury.
Under the league’s drug policy, a third drug-related offense means a “lifetime ban” with the possibility of reinstatement after a year.
