Steve Leach scored with 5 minutes 17 second left as the Washington Capitals extended their unbeaten streak to four games with a 5-3 NHL victory over the New York Islanders Tuesday night.

Mike Ridley, who scored the game’s first goal, set up the game-winner with a pass down low to Leach, who beat Glenn Healy from 15 feet with a high shot just under the crossbar.

The Capitals, 3-0-1 in their last four games, wrapped up the game with Michal Pivonka’s empty-net goal with eight seconds remaining while the teams skated with five on each side.
