Del Monte Announces Layoffs: Del Monte Foods will lay off between 60 and 70 workers in its two local offices, the first phase of a restructuring that could cost 200 jobs and save the company up to $10 million a year, officials said. The company will make the first layoffs at its San Francisco headquarters and its Walnut Creek research center. Del Monte employs about 750 people in San Francisco and 150 in Walnut Creek.
