Pan Am Corp.: The parent company of Pan American World Airways said third-quarter earnings fell sharply to $458,000, compared to a profit of $67.4 million a year ago. Revenue dipped 2% to $1.02 billion. Pan American World Airways reported a net loss of $21.9 million, contrasted with a profit of $52.3 million a year ago. The New York corporation said Pan Am results were affected by higher expenses and declines in traffic. The corporation’s results included a $18.4-million gain from the sale of a division of Pan Am World Services, a contract services unit.
