Chest Pains Sideline Rollins: Howard Rollins, co-star of NBC’s “In the Heat of the Night,” was reported in good condition Thursday after being hospitalized in Atlanta for chest pains. “His EKG and heart blood tests were negative for any myocardial damage,” the cardiologist in charge said. Dr. Andre Churchwell said Rollins, who teams with Carroll O’Connor in the police series, was admitted to Crawford Long Hospital of Emory University Tuesday evening after feeling chest pains on the set of the show in nearby Covington, Ga. Although Rollins’ tests were negative, Churchwell said that “because of his history of cigarette smoking and the fact that he is a male and (has) a stressful occupation, we are planning an exercise stress test (for today). If that looks good, he could go home.” The doctor said Rollins is in good spirits, walking around his room and eating well. In March, O’Connor underwent sextuple heart bypass surgery and returned to the show this fall.
