Rams Put Washington on Injured Reserve

To make room for linebacker Larry Kelm on the roster, the Rams Friday placed safety James Washington on six-week injured reserve with a thigh injury. Washington will be eligible to return to the active roster for the final game against the New England Patriots on Dec. 24.

The club also announced that Clifford Hicks would start for LeRoy Irvin at right cornerback Sunday against the New York Giants. Irvin bruised his foot while covering Anthony Carter on a route last week against Minnesota and missed Wednesday’s practice.
