Casting’s about to start for a half-hour TV version of Imagine Entertainment’s “Parenthood,” targeted for a 1990 fall debut, with NBC committed to 13 episodes. Imagine prez Robert Harris tells us that the creative fathers of the hit movie expect to be in attendance for the series’ birth.

“Ron Howard and Brian Grazer will executive produce and (writers) Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel will help launch it,” Harris said. “They’re writing the first two episodes and the story lines for the rest of the season. We want to carry over the quality of the movie, so we’ll be shooting the series on film with one camera.

“We’re already getting a lot of calls from people who want to be in it,” Harris added. “Obviously, we’d love it if Steve Martin and the rest of the movie cast came aboard.”

He laughed. “But I don’t think so.”
