ON THE SIDELINES : School Recalls Crash Victims

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. —
Marshall University and the city of Huntington today remembered a 1970 plane crash that killed 75 football players, coaches, administrators, students and community supporters.
The team was returning from a loss at East Carolina University Nov. 14 when the Southern Airlines charter jet crashed into the hillside below Tri-State Airport, killing all aboard.
A memorial service at Marshall’s Memorial Center Plaza commemorated the tragedy.
