Eyeball to Eyeball: Newsman Ted Koppel has scored a first for his next “Koppel Report,” Dec. 7 on ABC. After eight months of negotiations, he has gotten senior government representatives from the United States and the Soviet Union to agree to participate in a “crisis game” that will show the decision making processes of the superpowers during times of international crises. The hypothetical events take place on Dec. 7, 1991, the 50th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, and find the U.S. President and Vice President incapacitated, the Soviets facing their own crisis in Moscow and isolated incidents escalating the turmoil. The U.S. team includes Adm. William Crowe, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Rep. Les Aspin (D-Wis.).
