HUNTINGTON BEACH : Council Will Name New Mayor Monday
The City Council will meet on Monday to elect a new mayor for a one-year term to succeed Wes Bannister, who has held the position since November, 1988.
Bannister said that normally the council elects the previous year’s mayor pro tem to the mayoral post. The current mayor pro tem is Tom Mays.
Also on Monday, the council is to meet in closed session with its executive-search team to discuss the hiring of a new city administrator to succeed Paul E. Cook, who plans to retire early in 1990.
Bannister said Thursday that the council will use the closed session to narrow down the list of prospective candidates for the job.
Bannister said the council hopes to name a new city administrator by early January.
