4 Killed, 4 Hurt in Violent Weekend Incidents : Murder: A man gunned down in an apartment doorway and a woman burned to death in a van were among the victims.

Four people were killed and four others wounded in weekend violence that included the death of a man who was gunned down in the doorway of a Lynwood apartment, authorities said Saturday.

Peter David, 29, was killed about 10:45 p.m. Friday by three people who knocked on the door of an apartment on Louise Avenue where David was visiting, Sheriff’s Deputy Patrick Hunter said.

“One of the suspects asked for Pete,” Hunter said. “When he came to the door, they pulled out a shotgun and two handguns and opened fire, killing him at the scene.”

Authorities have arrested one woman and are still searching for two men; the identities of all three were withheld. Hunter said the shooting was believed to be gang-related.

In Wilmington, a fire in a van parked in a storage yard killed a 28-year-old woman early Saturday. Police arrested Thomas Padilla, 38, for murder in the death of the woman whose body was so badly burned it could not be positively identified.

Police in Bell said that late Friday, Reynaldo Miranda, 30, shot and wounded his estranged wife Maria Miranda, 28, and killed Catalina Hernandez, 27, when she tried to aid his wounded wife. Police are still looking for Miranda, who also goes by the name of Carlos Raul Campos.

In North Hollywood, a man was shot and killed at Lankershim Boulevard and Sherman Way about 4:45 a.m. Saturday, police said.

The victim, a 27-year-old man whose identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin, was found slouched in the seat of his car with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, police said. The victim died shortly after arrival at Holy Cross Medical Center. No arrests have been made and a motive has not been determined, police said.

In Pasadena, police said Gregory Jolley, 22, was shot in the abdomen late Friday after he pulled a knife on an undercover police officer in a liquor store parking lot and demanded money. Jolley was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Also, a gang member was wounded in a drive-by shooting near MacArthur Park on Saturday morning. The victim, whose name was not released, was in stable condition in the Hospital of the Good Samaritan, police said. No arrests have been made.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported one person was shot and wounded in a drive-by attack at a liquor store at 111th Street and Vermont Avenue in the Athens area of Los Angeles about 4 p.m. Saturday. The 15-year-old victim was in stable condition at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center.

Sheriff’s Lt. Ray Gonzales said the victim, who was not identified, and the suspects belong to rival gangs.
