THE SIDELINES : Ex-Colt Sherman Plunkett Dies

BALTIMORE —
Sherman Plunkett, an offensive tackle for the championship Baltimore Colts in 1958 and 1959, has died of cancer. He was 56.
Plunkett played 10 seasons in professional football with the Colts, San Diego Chargers and the New York Jets.
He was signed in 1956 by the Cleveland Browns but was with the team only a few months before being drafted into the Army. After a two-year hitch, Plunkett joined the Colts in 1958 as a free agent.
