Police arrested two Rancho Penasquitos teen-agers, believed by police to be gang members, in connection with the Saturday shooting death of a Mira Mesa teen-ager, spokesman Bill Robinson said.

John M. Mizico, 19, of the 11300 block of Del Diablo Street, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of murder, shortly after the gang-style slaying of Raymond Jose, 17, who was gunned down in front of a taco stand in Mira Mesa, Robinson said. Mizico is being held without bail in County Jail downtown and is scheduled to be arraigned today, Robinson said.

A second suspect, a 17-year-old boy whose identity was being withheld because he is a minor, is in custody at Juvenile Hall on the same charge, Robinson said.

Robinson would not identify which gang police believed Mizico and the other suspect belong to, but said Raymond Jose was a member of a rival gang and his slaying was gang-related.
