Girl, 16, Killed by Shot Apparently Meant for Mother
A 16-year-old girl was shot to death Monday, apparently by a man who opened fire on the victim’s mother when she arrived at her South-Central Los Angeles home, police said.
The shooting occurred about 7:45 a.m., when the killer, armed with a handgun, fired a shot at the woman, who then fled, Los Angeles Police Detective Pat Marshall said.
The body of Demetria Fox was found later inside the residence on West 88th Place, Marshall said. The weapon believed to have been used in the slaying was recovered.
The gunman allegedly stole the mother’s burgundy-colored 1989 Nissan van bearing the license number 2NEG378, Marshall said.
