Heroes in ‘Stalker’ Case

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday divided shares of a $36,777.63 reward bounty for the capture of convicted “Night Stalker” Richard Ramirez. Nineteen awards were paid out in amounts ranging from $250 to $10,388.82. Here are the reward amounts and the roles the recipients played.

* $10,388.82--Provided investigators with Ramirez’s name, facts about the crimes, and assisted in recovery of one of the murder weapons.

* $6,388.81--Provided information regarding Ramirez’s name and assisted investigators in recovering stolen property taken from homes of murder victims.

* $3,250--Called homicide detectives on behalf of her father and persuaded her father to come forward with information.

* $2,500--Gave information leading to Ramirez’s true name.

* $2,500--Persuaded her brother and his wife to come forward and provide information to the Lompoc Police Department.

* $1,000--Supplied the partial license plate number of a stolen vehicle that Ramirez used in an Orange County attempted murder.

* $1,000--Provided the entire license plate number of the vehicle used in the Orange County attempted murder.

* $1,000--Followed Ramirez as he was attempting to evade arrest and directed another person to call the Sheriff’s Department.

* $1,000--Amount for each of three people who physically detained Ramirez the day of his arrest.

* $1,000--Assisted in the arrest of Ramirez by physically restraining him.

* $1,000--Amount for each of three people who assisted in physically subduing Ramirez.

* $500--Called 911 at the direction of a claimant, notifying the Sheriff’s Department of Ramirez’s location.

* $500--Amount for each of two people who called 911, directing officers to Ramirez’s location the day of his arrest.

* $250--Furnished information to the San Francisco Police Department regarding Ramirez and stolen property.
