Police Looking for Hit-and-Run Driver
Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a hit-and-run driver who collided with a motorcyclist Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. at the corner of Harbor Boulevard and Mesa Verde Drive East.
The suspect, described by witnesses as a 20- to 25-year-old woman with blond hair, was driving a late 1970s blue Toyota Celica hatchback, said traffic investigator Steve Rautus. The woman reportedly made an unsafe lane change in front of a motorcycle, causing it to rear-end the car, lose control and crash. The victim, Rick Muller, 31 of Santa Ana, remains in stable condition at United Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
Witnesses said the driver stopped a half block from the accident, observed the scene and then fled. Witnesses said the numbers of the license plate are 378 and the letters resemble HPN. Rautus said there might have been rear-end damage to the car.
Anyone with information about the driver should call Rautus or investigator Floyd Waldon at (714) 754-5367.
