Hodson Is on Target as LSU Beats Tulane

Tommy Hodson completed nine consecutive passes in a 24-point second quarter streak to lead Louisiana State to a 27-7 victory over Tulane Saturday night.

LSU finished its season 4-7, and Tulane finished 4-8.

Hodson completed 17 of 25 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown. In the second quarter, he completed nine of 11 passes for 183 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown pass to Ronnie Haliburton.

David Browndyke kicked field goals of 34 yards in the first quarter and 32 yards in the second, giving him 14 for the season without a miss.

Tony Moss scored on a 32-yard pass from tailback Eddie Fuller in the second quarter, and Jay Egloff ran 19 yards for a touchdown with 35 seconds left in the first half.

Tulane scored on an 11-yard pass play from Jerome Woods to Melvin Ferdinand in the third quarter.

Woods came into the game on the scoring drive after starter Deron Smith suffered and injured shoulder. It was the first collegiate touchdown for both Woods and Ferdinand.

Hodson finished his LSU career with 9,115 passing yards, only the 12th player in NCAA history to pass for more than 9,000 yards.
