Re: “The Barbara Walters of Moscow” (View, Nov. 15): I would like to thank KNBC for inviting Svetlana Starodomskaya to its studios.

With all the changes we are seeing in the East Bloc--it’s almost more than one can digest--it’s wonderful to have this exchange of people between the East and the West. And what better medium than TV to make this happen.

I am convinced that television has played a not insignificant role in breaking down the barriers between nations and facilitating the amazing peaceful revolution we are seeing today in the communist countries.

Television must continue now, more than ever before, to provide programs directed to people who are less travelled than some of us showing how people live, what they think and how they feel. Such programs would not only be of interest to a large number of viewers, but would contribute greatly to the removal of preconceived ideas and often negative and primitive notions about other peoples.
