Isao Aoki birdied the 16th hole and won the $714,000 World Open golf tournament at Kaimoncho, Japan, by one shot over Larry Mize.
Aoki and Mize, the defending champion, each birdied the 13th and were tied at 13-under par before Aoki’s birdie. Aoki earned $128,000 for his third win of the season and the 56th of his career.
Aoki shot a 3-under-par 69 for the day, giving him a total of 274. Mize finished at 70 and got $71,000.
