BLUSTERY: Orange County’s history is replete with stories of the wicked Santa Ana winds (B1), some of them true. . . . The most untrue apparently was a 1901 report that sand blew in pillars reaching as high as 30 feet, blinding and smothering pedestrians. . . . Outraged Santa Ana residents drafted a resolution saying the report was “grossly exaggerated, false and unfair.”
