Louisiana State’s black football players are underused, feel stifled and don’t play hard because of discrimination and racial problems on the team, an NAACP official says.
George Eames, president of the Baton Rouge chapter of the NAACP, accused LSU coaches of not letting blacks play quarterback, center or guard, which he called “the brains of the football team.”
Eames said black players have come to him to express their discontent but are afraid that going public would jeopardize their playing careers or job chances in Louisiana.
University officials denied Eames’ allegations.
