HOLLYWOOD PARK : Feverfew Tries for Comeback in Fillies Test
Feverfew, which waltzed to a 5 1/2-length victory in her debut at Hollywood Park in June, will face six other 2-year-old fillies looking for their first win since breaking their maidens in Friday’s $27,000 allowance feature at Hollywood Park.
Feverfew failed to threaten in two starts at Del Mar after her impressive maiden win but has been freshened three months and is training for her comeback. The daughter of Flying Paster is trained by David Hofmans for Ridder Thoroughbred Stables. Robbie Davis is the jockey.
Three of the seven fillies have raced well during the current stand. They are Wakia and Luminescence, both recent winners, and Mahaska, beaten by a nose in her first try in allowance company.
Also earning a recent victory was Viento Bailador, which defeated Wakia by 3 1/2 lengths in Wakia’s debut.
Of the recent winners, Wakia was the most impressive. She won her second career start by three lengths going wire to wire in 1:09.4. A repeat of that effort would be tough to deny.
