Fight on Pay-Per-View TV Only, or at a Closed-Circuit Location
Tonight’s Sugar Ray Leonard-Roberto Duran fight in Las Vegas, which will be shown pay-per-view on cable television, is available in 1.4 million Southland households.
The fight is also being shown at 80 closed-circuit locations.
Pre-fight coverage begins at 5 p.m., the four-bout undercard at 6 and the main event about 7:30.
The current cost of the fight on home TV in Southern California ranges from $44.95 to $49.95, depending on the cable system.
Rick Kulis of Choice Entertainment, the Southern California distributor of the pay-per-view and closed-circuit telecast, said, “The volume of sales is unprecedented, so people should not give up if they have trouble getting through to their cable company.”
Kulis also warned that there are no free showings of the fight. “Bars that aren’t charging a $35 cover are not licensed to carry the fight, and patrons going to those bars will probably be in for a disappointment,” he said.
