Czechs Stream Into Austria

VIENNA — More than 100,000 Czechoslovaks, many enjoying their first trip to the West, streamed into Austria on Saturday to sightsee and shop.
Austrian radio said about 13,000 cars and 700 buses had crossed into Austria since midnight in the biggest wave of visitors since Czechoslovakia eased travel restrictions for its citizens at the beginning of the week.
“We’re just looking in the shops. Everything is really nice,” said one woman from Prague. “But we haven’t got enough foreign currency to buy much.”
Austria temporarily waived visa formalities for Czechoslovaks last Monday. It has said it will remove them altogether if Prague suspends visas for Austrians in return.
