LOCAL : Fire Chars Simi Freeway Area
From Times Staff and Wire Service Reports
A brush fire charred about 15 acres near the Simi Valley Freeway in Chatsworth early today before it was controlled, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 4:13 a.m. just north of the freeway near De Soto Avenue, said Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells.
It took 35 firefighters, assisted by three water-dropping helicopters, about 30 minutes to put out the blaze, Wells said.
There were no injuries and no structures were threatened, he said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
