$2-Billion Development Plan Clears Key Panel

Los Angeles City Councilman Hal Bernson steered a $2-billion development proposal for Porter Ranch through a the Planning and Land Use Committee Tuesday after giving in to some of the changes Mayor Tom Bradley said needed to be included to avoid a mayoral veto.

Bernson inserted provisions to allow for “low and/or moderate income” housing in the development, but said he would not go along with two other recommendations made by Bradley regarding reduced office parking and the integration of neighborhood stores into residential areas.

Bernson said his changes to the 1,300-acre proposal for the hills north of the Simi Valley Freeway in Chatsworth “address the questions that were raised by the mayor, and we thank the mayor for his input.”
