SALES AND USE TAX REVENUES
County cities’ tax flow improved a collective $24 million with the latest disbursement of sales and use tax revenues by the State Board of Equalization. Although the city of Anaheim received the single largest amount, Costa Mesa, as is usually the case, had by far the largest per-capita amount among the cities. Tiny Villa Park received the smallest total and had the smallest per-capita amount.
The $25.5 million received by Orange County was far more than the amounts sent to either Riverside, San Bernardino or San Diego counties--but less than half as much as the Los Angeles County haul. Orange County had the highest per-capita amount of the five counties, however.
Each month city and county governments and other governmental organizations receive payments from the state in anticipation of actual sales tax revenues. In the fourth month, they receive a cleanup payment--the difference between actual revenues and the amounts previously received--plus the first advance payment for the next quarter. The amounts listed here are for the third advance payment of the third quarter of 1989.
