A pack of dogs roaming the remote Dulzura area east of San Diego attacked and mauled a 69-year-old man, killing him, authorities said. The body of Roy Johnson was found on a trail leading to the cattle ranch where he worked. The Sheriff’s Department said two snarling dogs were seen near the body and were shot by neighbors who found the body. One of the mixed-breed dogs was killed and the other was wounded. Four other dogs were later picked up by animal control officers. An autopsy was scheduled to determine whether Johnson was killed outright by the animals or if he had suffered a heart attack or some other ailment.
