Phillies Add Vatcher to Big League Roster
Jim Vatcher, the leading hitter on the Cal State Northridge baseball team in 1987, has been promoted to the Philadelphia Phillies’ major league roster.
Vatcher was named the Phillies’ top minor-league prospect in 1988.
Last season he batted .301 with 30 doubles and 46 runs batted in at Class-A Clearwater of the Florida State League before moving on to double-A Reading (Pa.) in the Eastern League, where he batted .327 with 32 RBIs in 48 games.
