Loyola Marymount’s Gathers Remains Sidelined for Oregon State Tonight
Loyola Marymount center Hank Gathers, who collapsed on the court during a game Dec. 9, won’t play for the Lions tonight at Oregon State against the 21st-ranked Beavers.
Barry Zepel, Loyola Marymount sports information director, said Gathers was undergoing tests Monday and more testing was scheduled for today.
An announcement will be made later in the week as to Gathers’ availability for Saturday night’s game against seventh-ranked Oklahoma at Loyola, Zepel said.
Gathers, a senior who led the country in scoring and rebounding last season, collapsed at the free throw line while trying to catch his breath with 13:56 remaining in Loyola Marymount’s 104-101 victory over UC Santa Barbara.
He was admitted to Centinela Hospital Medical Center the night of the incident and released two days later.
