Free Ride Offered Holiday Drinkers
CareCab, a free holiday taxi service for people who consider themselves drunk and unable to drive safely, will be provided by Glendale Memorial Hospital and the National Council on Alcoholism from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday through Jan. 1.
The service, in its sixth year, will be available to anyone calling from a restaurant, bar or other public place within 20 miles of central Glendale. If the distance is greater than 20 miles, the rider will be asked to pay standard cab fare for the difference.
The program is part of a nationwide CareCab effort that has provided nearly 70,000 rides in the past nine years.
