Isuzu, a Japanese car company, delivered 20,000 Mattel toys to children in San Francisco Bay Area Red Cross shelters, a spokesman for the company said.

The “Isuzu Toy Convoy” started about 11 a.m. Monday at the corporate office at 2300 Pellissier Place in Whittier, where Isuzu employees gathered to sign huge “Christmas cards” on the side of the trucks carrying the toys.

On Tuesday, children and their parents stood in long lines in cold temperatures to receive the toys at various Red Cross distribution centers in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Gatos, Gilroy, Santa Cruz and Watsonville, the spokesman said.
