Spud Webb scored a career-high 26 points and also had 12 assists, sparking the Atlanta Hawks to a 115-104 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday.

Webb, who made 12 of 14 shots, bettered his previous career best of 23 points against the Lakers in 1986.

It was the 10th victory in the last 13 games for the Hawks, who never trailed after Cliff Levingston converted a fast-break layup off a John Battle steal to make it 36-35 with 7:37 left in the second quarter.

The Hawks built their lead to 62-46 at halftime and led by 11 or more points until the Cavaliers started a rally late in the third quarter.

Mark Price started a 12-2 run that included five points by Reggie Williams and cut Atlanta’s lead to 79-76, but Cleveland was never able to get closer.

The Cavaliers cut the lead to 100-96 on John Williams’ layup with 3:28 to play, but two consecutive baskets by Dominique Wilkins and another by Webb built the lead to 106-98 and the Cavs never got closer than six points down the stretch.
