Bush Dubs Senior Health Center a ‘Point of Light’
President Bush on Tuesday named a Santa Monica health counseling center as the recipient of his daily “Point of Light” award.
Founded in 1976, the Senior Health and Peer Counseling Center was chosen because it provides health screening and counseling for senior citizens at low cost or for free, a White House spokesman said.
Medical students help staff the facility. The center specializes in services to seniors who live alone or are in danger of becoming homeless, and in counseling to the handicapped and mentally ill elderly.
