An Anaheim man was wounded by gunfire outside El Tropico Bar at 900 S. Anaheim Blvd. around 6 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
Efrain Tejada-Barron was in the intensive care unit at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana on Wednesday, listed in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Anaheim police were called to an apartment complex at 944 S. Anaheim Blvd. at 6:05 Tuesday, where they found Tejada-Barron. A bullet had entered his hip and exited through his abdomen, Anaheim Police Lt. Marc Hedgpeth said.
Hedgpeth said Tejada-Barron had reportedly argued with a young man at El Tropico. The two men stepped outside to fight and the young man pulled a weapon and shot Tejada-Barron.
The gunman fled and could not be found, and Tejada-Barron “fled or stumbled” to the front of the apartment complex where he was found, Hedgpeth said. Tejada-Barron refused to give his address to police and didn’t identify a possible suspect, he said.
