Steve Spurrier, Florida’s new coach, said he is so eager for a game against national champion Miami that he would play it before the regular season and outside the continental United States to get around NCAA regulations.

Spurrier said that he and Athletic Director Bill Arnsparger are considering playing Miami in a foreign country because overseas games are allowed beyond the NCAA-approved 11-game schedules.
