Milli Vanilli Knows It’s True

The biggest new act of last year was Milli Vanilli, which seems to have staked out the No. 1 spot of the Billboard pop album chart as its own territory. Phil Collins’ ”. . . But Seriously” claimed it for a week, but Milli Vanilli--the good-looking, foreign dance-music duo--reclaimed it again. Their album “Girl You Know It’s True,” which has sold over 5 million copies, has bounced in and out of No. 1 but may stay there for another few weeks this time. Their latest surge is due to a new hit single, “All or Nothing,” which jumped to No. 39 on the pop singles chart in just two weeks. Collins’ “Another Day in Paradise” is the No. 1 pop single for the fourth straight week.

* The Swedish duo Roxette quietly had a huge 1989, with two No. 1 singles--”The Look” and “Listen to Your Heart”--and an album, “Look Sharp,” that has sold over 900,000 copies. Another hit single, the fast-rising “Dangerous”--No. 35--should push the album, which is up to No. 46, over the million mark in the next few weeks.
