Share

College Hospital of Cerritos will open the competition for its fifth annual Safe and Sober Celebration awards to Los Angeles County and neighboring Orange County high schools.

The celebration, to begin Jan. 18, was originally designed for safe and sober senior graduation. This year, it has been expanded to include all high school students who will make a commitment to avoid drug and alcohol use throughout the year. Participating high schools will be judged on activities and events implemented that reinforce a safe and sober environment and on creativity, student participation and originality. Winning schools will be awarded cash prizes of $1,000, $750 and $500.

The kickoff for the program will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 18 for enrollment and previewing the contest guidelines. Interested high school representatives should contact Stephanie Guastella at 924-9581, Ext. 350, for meeting location and information.
